NEMA DEVELOPS NEW EDUCATIONAL FACILITY STANDARDS

Recently, a new national standard was developed by NEMA for communications systems used in schools. The standard identifies the importance of the school's intercom and paging systems in the event of a crisis or disaster situation.

NEMA, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (nema.org) has been writing technical and safety standards for over 70 years. They have written over 700 technical/safety standards of which many have been adopted into real-world life safety planning guidelines for a variety of applications.

Although this new standard focuses on educational facilities it is a sobering reminder that a crisis or disaster can happen anywhere at anytime and usually with little to no warning.

Sound Incorporated has worked with all types facilities to develop reliable and effective paging and signal systems for daily routine operations as well as critical communications in the event of an emergency.
